over 130 years of links heritage across our championship courses
There are newer, more revered courses. But none like this.
Over the past 130 years, the course has continued to evolve with this Old Tom’s ethos in mind. Canny Scots, with deep knowledge of local wind, turf, grass and play have evolved the course. And so the course continues to challenge the mind, as much as technique.
It is a rare and very accomplished player, and on a perfect day, who ‘takes the course apart’, despite every hole feeling ‘birdie-able’ from the tee. Rarer still is that anyone finds a round at Moray anything less than deeply satisfying.
a classic old tom morris links
Big Man, Big Beard, Big Reputation. But why does an ‘Old Tom Morris Design’ matter?
Old Tom had a feel for links terrain, knew the game, and merged this knowledge to best effect.
A fine example at Moray Old is the fifth hole. A green best approached from the left of the fairway, is protected by a characteristic ‘Old Tom’ placement of three staggered fairway bunkers that offer a risky drive down the left, and more space to the right. Simple, but challenging. And attractive, too.

our signature hole - the 18th
Home - The original golfing amphitheatre.
Picture the horseshoe of spectators willing you on, betting on the outcome of your match, they have been in your shoes and faced the test, the glory of a skilled pin-high approach, the sinking feeling of the glancing bounce towards hell’s and devil’s bunkers, the awesome culmination of 18 thrilling holes with the clubhouse towering above.
